Reviews for Marisqueira Sotavento
Review highlights
Based on 562 reviewsMarisqueira Sotavento is praised for its stunning beachside location and scenic terrace seating, which enhances the dining experience. The restaurant is recognized for serving fresh and flavorful seafood, including standout dishes like Spanish-style mussels and traditional cataplana, alongside well-prepared burgers. Guests frequently commend the friendly and attentive service, especially during less busy weekdays. While the overall food quality and atmosphere receive positive mentions, some diners note that certain dishes or wine selections can be pricey and occasionally do not meet specific expectations. Despite this, the combination of delicious meals, reasonable pricing, and beautiful views makes Marisqueira Sotavento a recommended choice for seafood enthusiasts.
The view is stunning; you can see the beach while sitting on the terrace. The food was excellent, and the servers were friendly and upbeat. The seafood and burgers are the best here. Reasonable prices, no reservation required.
The food was good, with the Spanish-style mussels standing out as a highlight. However, our expectations were for a caldeirada, and instead, we received a cataplana that featured only turbot—an expensive fish, but unfortunately not my favorite. That left me disappointed. Adding to the letdown, the pricing was extremely high, particularly the wine, which felt unjustifiably expensive. While the flavors were enjoyable, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the cost.
Very tasty cataplana and starters, good wine, attentive service. We were dining on July 31st. Outside seating is nice, it was windy and we were provided with blankets. During working days place has less visitors so you get a good service and full attention. I did not take photos of the wine, maybe restaurant kindly could tell me which 2 wines we were having on Thursday evening. One white from Douro, another white from Alentejo
Scrumptious seafood! The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. 100%recommend this to seafood lovers! If you come early enough you can look at the view of the beach or if you are lucky, you might be able to see the beautiful sunset
Excellent place for a meal and wonderful views. Service was professional and personable. Food was delicious and fresh. The cats were very entertaining. Highly recommend!
What an amazing place to eat, very soothing experience after going to the beach. Not like other places that were full and with other customers making a lot of noise. Me and my wife went here twice in three days. The food was amazing and the waiters, both named Joao were great, giving an outstanding and refined service and were both great to have a conversation with. We had mussels spanish style and octopus as starters and the seafood rice for two and the choco frito were on point. The only thing missing is music
We chose to eat there after some time on the beach. Most of the on the menu seafood is quite expensive. We ordered two seafood dishes and two steak dishes. Overall, the food very very good. The sea food dishes were made high quality ingredients. The steak, fries, and egg was also very tasty. The bill was among the highest we paid during our week in Portugal, but frankly, this was also one of our best meals of our trip. The young waitress that helped us was excellent, and could speak to us in English and Spanish. On the other hand, an older waiter was a bit rude and but the wrong dishes on our table on two occasions. The female waitress made our time there fantastic. Thank you. Oh and the sparking sangria was AMAZING!
